Continental Knitting – Where do I start?
Ever wanted to knit faster? Or perhaps you detest moss stitch because it takes
forever?
This workshop will introduce you to the basics of Continental knitting, where the yarn
is held in the left hand and stitches are ‘picked’. Commonly considered one of the
fastest methods of knitting – it also makes switching between knit and purl a breeze.
Bring your good humour and patience to give yourself time to get used to new hand
positions and methods of tensioning/holding your yarn. The rewards will be well
worth the effort. We’ll also cover how to knit continuously without dropping your
yarn between rows.
This workshop will cover the following skills, starting from the basics of how to hold
your yarns for working continental style:
• Knitting
• Purling
• Concept of combination knitting
Materials are not included so you will need to bring:
-
1 ball of aran yarn and appropriate needles (4.5-5.5mm / straight or circle)
- You will be entitled to a 10% discount on any materials for the class that you purchase on the day.
Please Note - Classes and groups will only run if at least four people have signed up.
To give us time to prepare, please do not arrive more than 10 minutes before the session begins.
