Want professional-looking knits but don’t have the skills yet?
You don’t have to be a professional to do this workshop. You’ll learn everything you need to know, including different methods of sewing up, picking up stitches, and blocking, as well as some different cast-ons, 3-needle bind off and short rows. Want more? You’ll also learn loads of tips and tricks from an experienced knitter, to make your garments look the best they can.
Techniques to be covered:
- Different cast-ons – longtail cast-on or cable cast-on
- Seaming – mattress stitch, joining vertical edges to other vertical edges, joining vertical edges to horizontal edges, garter st, and setting in sleeves
- Picking up sts – on different types of edges
- Short rows – how to
- Three needle bind off or grafting – for shoulder seams
- Tips for finishing –
- Moving decreases/increases in from edge sts
- Adding selvedge sts to help with seaming
- Blocking advice – different methods
Once you have signed up for the class you will be emailed the ‘Finishing Techniques Samples’ PDF so they can make up the required samples which will be used for practicing in the workshop and that you will need to bring with you on the day:
- 2 x stocking st squares (aran preferred, but dk OK too)
- 2 x garter st squares (aran preferred, but dk OK too)
You will also need to bring:
- 1 x 50 g of any Aran or DK yarn
- Needles to match the yarn you bring,. Note: you will need a third needle for the three needle bind off technique.
- Wool needle for sewing up
You will also be entitled to a 10% discount on any materials for the class that you purchase from Hoop on the day.
Please Note - Classes and groups will only run if at least four people have signed up.
To give us time to prepare, please do not arrive more than 10 minutes before the session begins.
